We are hiring a Ph. D. research assistant in Environmental Chemistry

Dr. Malina’s research group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a graduate research assistant to join a newly established team as part of the NSF-funded project “Organochlorine Contaminant Phototransformation: Exploring the Impact of Dissolved Organic Matter Molecular Composition.” This project is a collaboration between Florida Atlantic University and Auburn University.

The research assistant will conduct research examining the role of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the photodegradation pathways of dichlorobenzene and triclosan using mass spectrometry techniques, including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and compound-specific isotope analysis. Responsibilities include performing experiments, collaborating with the project team, presenting findings at professional conferences, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.

Start date: Spring 2025 or Fall 2025
