All of our lab members worked hard throughout the summer.

Some gained their first research experience, while others generated valuable data or took on new projects. We celebrated the end of the summer with a bowling competition. Now we know who the best bowler in the Transform Lab is! 🎳 Meet Alex, our brilliant undergraduate student, who hit the most strikes and won the most games! πŸ† In the photo from left to right: Natalia Malina, Rodrigo AndrΓ©s Restrepo Osorio, Angelica Joy Yu, Alexandra McCullough

I attended the Gordon Research Conference on Environmental Science: Water this week and had a great experience.

It was a valuable opportunity to network with researchers in the field, learn about the latest advances in environmental science, and showcase our research. I'm grateful for the insightful discussions, new connections, and inspiring work shared throughout the conference. The excellent food made the celebration of science even more enjoyable.

After more than a decade of working with GC-MS, I have finally received official training from Agilent.

It was an intensive three days, during which I learned many new things about maintenance and troubleshooting. You never stop learning, even after years of experience, right? I am now ready to pass this knowledge on to my students. It also seems that our samples have never been bad enough to cause some of the more serious issues discussed during the training. Hopefully, that remains the case.

Big week for our team!

We kicked off fieldwork for our EPA project, collecting water samples from Lake Okeechobee and deploying passive samplers. We're excited to analyze the samples and see what insights they reveal. The photos show just how much fun fieldwork can be!

Our project "Organochlorine Contaminant Phototransformation: Exploring the Impact of Dissolved Organic Matter Molecular Composition" was funded by NSF.

The project aims to connect DOM composition with the transformation pathways of dichlorobenzene and triclosan. This project will strengthen FAU's collaboration with Auburn University and will cultivate the next generation of graduate and undergraduate researchers in environmental sciences. Stay tuned for the updates. Thanks to NSF for this opportunity!
